The Tellabs 140W ONT is modular in design so that its Power Module, ONT Electronics and Faceplate can be purchased and installed separately. The ONT140W Power Module, with remote DC power termination, can be mounted into a single or dual-gang form factor. This modular design allows for separate installation of DC power and fiber cable during the rough construction phase, while ONT electronics, fiber connectivity and the ONT faceplate can be installed during the finish construction phase.

Modular Design

Power Module (sold in 10-packs) is part of 3-piece modular design of the ONT140W that also features ONT electronics and paintable/changable faceplate that are purchased separately.

Mounting and Powering

Power Module can be mounted in either standard single-gang or dual gang electrical boxes that are purchased separately. Remote powering is supported using a centrally located bulk power plant, emergency power and bulk battery back-up over composite single-mode fiber (greenfield), which provides two copper wires or repurposes existing CATx cabling (brownfield).

Asset Protection

A standard electrical box dust cover can be temporarily used during installation to protect the Power Module, cables and connectors until ONT electronics and faceplate are installed later in the project.

Future Expansion

Another benefit of the ONT Power Module is that it can be installed, and connected, in preparation for future growth considerations (cover with standard blank faceplate) without incurring the expense of purchasing ONT electronics and an ONT faceplate.
